The mesmerizing motion and signature blue lighting of the TripleView meter can be dimmed or turned off, ensuring it won’t distract from your screen.

The MC255 has been upgraded with several enhancements to boost its performance. The amplifier's filter capacity has been increased by 50%, significantly improving dynamic headroom, which has more than doubled from 1.7dB to 3.6dB, a crucial feature for home theater systems. Power output has also been raised: the front left, center, and right channels now deliver 250 Watts per channel (WPC), while the five-channel output remains at 200 WPC, ensuring powerful, clean sound for all speakers. Whether using a few or all channels, the MC255 provides consistent power to both 4 and 8 Ohm speakers, thanks to McIntosh's Dynamic Power Manager (DPM) technology.

Running quietly and efficiently, the MC255 features four McIntosh Monogrammed Heatsinks, which are connected to high-current output transistors to dissipate heat without the need for noisy cooling fans that could interfere with your audio experience. The use of a specially wound toroidal isolation power transformer further minimizes any unwanted noise. Updated gold-plated speaker binding posts ensure a secure, corrosion-free connection for your speakers, while traditional McIntosh knobs on the front panel provide easy control over the meter lights and power functions. Direct LED backlighting enhances the front panel’s color accuracy and durability.

McIntosh's legendary technologies are included in the MC255, such as Power Guard, which prevents speaker damage due to clipping, and Sentry Monitor, which safeguards the amplifier against short circuits by shutting down the output stage if unsafe current levels are detected. Balanced and unbalanced inputs are provided for seamless integration with your home theater processor.

The MC255 is a versatile amplifier, perfect for powering a standard 5-channel home theater system. It can also be paired with McIntosh’s MI128 or MI254 amplifiers in setups that require additional surround speakers for advanced 3D audio formats like Dolby Atmos, DTS
, and Auro-3D. Alternatively, the MC255 can be configured for two separate audio zones, offering 250 WPC for the front channels in one zone and 200 WPC for surround channels in another.
