The Epic Systems C53 Preamplifier is engineered to deliver exceptional audio quality in your home system for years, even decades, while maintaining a timeless level of performance. Building upon the digital audio standards set by Epic Systems' solid-state integrated amplifiers, the C53 stereo preamplifier introduces an upgradeable digital audio module. Unlike the integrated amplifiers, which use the DA1 Digital Audio Module, the C53 is the first to feature the new, advanced DA2 Digital Audio Module.

The DA2 module expands on the DA1 with enhanced capabilities. It includes all the same connections found on the DA1 (2 coaxial, 2 optical, 1 USB, and 1 proprietary MCT input for use with Epic Systems’ MCT series of SACD/CD Transports), plus a newly added HDMI Audio Return Channel (ARC) input. This allows the C53 to connect to TVs with compatible HDMI (ARC) outputs, bringing your TV’s audio performance to new heights when routed through your home audio system. It supports popular multi-channel audio formats from Dolby and DTS, which are expertly converted to 2-channel audio for optimal playback. With CEC communication enabled on both the C53 and your TV, the included remote can control the TV’s power and volume.

The DA2 also introduces an enhanced USB input that supports native playback of DSD up to DSD512, surpassing the DA1’s DSD256 limit. This is made possible by the next-generation, Quad Balanced, 8-channel, 32-bit Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC) that powers the DA2, offering improved dynamic range and reduced harmonic distortion compared to the DA1. The USB input also supports DXD up to 384kHz. Meanwhile, the coaxial and optical inputs can decode digital audio up to 24-bit/192kHz for high-resolution playback. The MCT input remains a standout feature, providing a secure, high-quality DSD connection for SACD playback when paired with Epic Systems’ MCT series of SACD/CD Transports.

Alongside the 7 digital inputs of the DA2 module, the C53 also boasts 9 analog inputs, providing a total of 16 inputs to accommodate a wide variety of music sources. These analog inputs include 3 balanced, 4 unbalanced, as well as Moving Coil and Moving Magnet phono inputs for connecting your turntable. Output options include 3 variable balanced and unbalanced connections, plus 1 fixed unbalanced connection.

All of this advanced audio technology is encased in the Epic Systems C53’s signature design, which features a black glass front panel illuminated by direct LED lighting, classic blue meters, rotary knobs, an illuminated logo, and polished aluminum end caps. The preamplifier is finished with a refined stainless-steel chassis. It can be seamlessly paired with a wide range of amplifiers, CD players, turntables, tuners, media streamers, room correction devices, and speakers to complete your home audio system.
